This presentation is suitable for queer and non-queer-identifying people.
Being a queer teacher, one has certain advantages in the classroom which may also be accompanied by extra challenges. This session will be co-facilitated by Joseph Goodwin, a recent graduate of the StFX BEd program and Claydon Goering, the Gender and Sexual Diversity Advisor at StFX.
In this session, Joseph will share some research findings from his study on "Supporting Queer Students as a Gay or Lesbian Teacher in Canadian Public Schools." Joseph will also share some of his personal experiences as a Gay/ CIS male teacher. Claydon will be sharing their experiences working in a professional environment, transitioning into the workplace, and chat about barriers that those in the trans community have/ might face in professional working environments generally speaking.
